FIFTY FIFTY Fires Back: 'Are We Just a Means to Make Money? Stop Framing Us'
Girl group FIFTY FIFTY members have directly requested their agency Attrakt to "stop framing us without evidence." On October 12, FIFTY FIFTY took to their own SNS platform and stated, "Agency, please stop framing us without any basis. Did you see our girl group as a means to solve your debt issues?" They continued their criticism towards Attrakt's CEO, Jeon Hong-jun. The members had previously released a handwritten letter through this account last August.
The members claimed against CEO Jeon Hong-jun, "He tried to adjust the prepayment debt owed to an outsourced company as if FIFTY FIFTY had received a 5 billion won investment." They pointed out, "This prepayment debt is not Attrakt's but another corporation's."
They continued, "Attrakt is still avoiding our requests for clarification and is defaming the members with baseless framing." They also warned, "Stop insulting us with this groundless tempering frame. We will reveal everything confidently."
Furthermore, they added towards CEO Jeon Hong-jun, "Please reveal everything about FIFTY FIFTY truthfully now." They emphasized, "We will disclose everything about our activities under surveillance and control that ruined our health. We will also reveal the true nature of your stories and why we had no choice but to leave the agency and why we can't return."
In June, FIFTY FIFTY notified Attrakt of their contract termination and, through their legal representative, filed an injunction to suspend the exclusive contract, citing Attrakt's unclear settlements and lack of support. However, on August 28, the 50th Civil Division of the Seoul Central District Court dismissed FIFTY FIFTY's injunction application, stating, "It's hard to conclude that there was a breach of duty to provide settlement data, and it's difficult to see that there was sufficient evidence of a breach of duty to care for health. Ending the business with Diverse is not a breach of the exclusive contract."
FIFTY FIFTY has appealed against the court's decision, signaling a second round. However, the atmosphere is not in favor of FIFTY FIFTY. It's uncertain whether FIFTY FIFTY's counterattack will overturn the dismissal. With mounting public criticism and negative evaluations from the industry, the prospects for the team's comeback have become even more bleak.
