BTS V's "Slow Dancing" Surpasses 100 Million Streams on Spotify, Demonstrating Strong Solo Power
BTS's V has illuminated his popularity by breaking through 100 million streams on Spotify with the title track "Slow Dancing" from his debut solo album 'Layover'.
On October 8th, V's "Slow Dancing" surpassed 100 million streams on Spotify, the world's largest music platform, just 30 days after its release. As of 6 AM on October 10th, "Slow Dancing" has recorded 157,299,900 streams.
"Slow Dancing" is the third song from the 'Layover' album to surpass 100 million streams, following "Love Me Again" and "Rainy Days".
V's 'Layover' set a record on Spotify as the first K-pop solo album to surpass 100 million streams in its first week of release, and it's also the first K-pop solo album to have all its tracks chart on Spotify's Global Weekly Chart.
After its release, "Slow Dancing" topped both the UK Official Singles Sales Chart and the Singles Download Chart. The 'Layover' album also reached number one on the Official Album Download Chart, setting a record as the first for a Korean solo artist.
V released all the songs on the album without any remix versions. Despite being in Korean, "Slow Dancing" achieved significant success, placing 51st on the Billboard main chart 'Hot 100', 2nd on 'Digital Song Sales', 3rd on 'Billboard Global Excl. U.S.', and 4th on 'Billboard Global'.
With its relaxed tempo, "Slow Dancing" exudes a mysterious yet trendy vibe, reminiscent of V himself. Instead of the powerful and dazzling image shown on the BTS stage, the song reveals V's intrinsic color, garnering even more passionate love.
Meanwhile, V's 'Layover' included five photocards in each album version, deviating from the idol album signature of 'random photocards'. Despite issues like stock shortages, the album's initial sales surpassed 2.1 million copies, showcasing V's formidable solo power. With this, V became the first artist to exceed 2 million initial sales for a solo album since Hanteo began its count, holding the record for the highest initial sales for a K-pop solo album.
