BTS's V Soars to #1 on Japan's Oricon Chart with Solo Album 'Layover'
BTS's V has clinched the top spot on Japan's Oricon weekly album chart with his debut solo album, 'Layover'.
According to the latest chart released by Oricon on the 13th (dated September 18th, with the tally period from September 4th to 10th), V's 'Layover', released on the 8th, entered the 'Weekly Digital Album Ranking' with 6,551 downloads, immediately securing its place at the pinnacle.
Previously, V had also stormed straight to #1 on the 'Daily Album Ranking' (dated September 8th) with a sales volume of 221,491 copies. On the same day, the title track from 'Layover', 'Slow Dancing', also topped Oricon's 'Daily Digital Single Ranking'. With the release of the album, V dominated both the physical and digital charts simultaneously.
According to the Korean album sales aggregation site, Hanteo Chart, on the 12th, 'Layover' has sold 1.95 million copies, nearing the 2 million mark. Achieving 'Million Seller' status on its release day, 'Layover' also set a new record for the highest sales volume on the day of release for a K-pop solo artist.
'Layover' is V's first solo album since his debut. It features a total of six tracks, including the title song 'Slow Dancing', the pre-released 'Rainy Days', 'Love Me Again', 'Blue', 'For Us', and a bonus track, 'Slow Dancing (Piano Ver.)'. The album, a fusion of V's unique characteristics and sentiments, saw participation from ADOR's representative and chief producer, Min Hee-jin.
