BTS Jungkook Sweeps Music Core With 'Seven,' Clinching 'Sextuple Crown' Amidst NewJeans, INFINITE, and Yeong Tak Comebacks
BTS member Jungkook seized first place with his song "Seven" on "Show! Music Core," recording a remarkable "Sextuple Crown."
On August 5, MBC's music program 'Show! Music Core' announced Jungkook as the winner. NewJeans' "Super Shy," OH MY GIRL's "Summer Comes," and Jungkook's "Seven" were all candidates for the first week of August's top spot.
Despite not making an appearance on the broadcast, Jungkook still managed to clinch the top spot, proving his immense popularity.
Jungkook released his first solo single "Seven (feat. Latto)" on July 14. The title track "Seven" subsequently swept the trophies across six shows: Mnet's "M Countdown," SBS "Inkigayo," MBC M "Show Champion," and "Show! Music Core." "Seven" is a summer song with an addictively bright melody, showcasing Jungkook's charm. "Seven" has also entered the UK Official Singles Chart 'Top 100' for three consecutive weeks and landed 9th on the US Billboard "Hot 100." Furthermore, with "Seven," Jungkook became the first and only solo artist from Asia to top the "Global 200" and "Global 200" (Excluding the US) charts for two consecutive weeks.
The day's "Music Core" broadcast also featured comeback performances by INFINITE with "New Emotions," Mamamoo+ with "dangdang," ITZY with "None Of My Business" and "CAKE," Kwon Eunbi with "The Flash," TREASURE with "BONA BONA," and Yeong Tak with "Form Me Up." Brave Girls' new sub-unit, BB Girls, debuted with "ONE MORE TIME."
The performers on that day's "Music Core" included INFINITE, Mamamoo+, ITZY, Kwon Eunbi, TREASURE, Yeong Tak, BB Girls, Soyou, OH MY GIRL, Shownu X Hyungwon, TAN, Circus, The Wind, Aichellin, and Horizon.
