BTS Jimin Crowned with Triple Guinness World Records, Shines as a Global Superstar
BTS Jimin has shone as a global superstar, earning three official Guinness World Records recognitions.
On August 2, the Guinness World Records (hereinafter referred to as Guinness) officially announced, "BTS member Jimin is breaking chart records with his solo activities during the team's hiatus," revealing that he set two new records on SoundCloud, the world's largest music sharing platform, with his first self-composed song, 'Promise.'
Guinness stated, "On June 17, 2023, Jimin's 'Promise' broke through 330 million streams on SoundCloud, becoming the most streamed song on the platform," and explained further, "This track is Jimin's first self-composed song, and immediately upon its release in December 2018, it became the most streamed track on SoundCloud within 24 hours."
'Promise', released without any prior announcement at midnight on December 31, 2018, received an explosive response, causing connection issues due to heavy traffic. It shattered the 24-hour record of 4.9 million streams set by renowned rapper Drake's 'Duppy Freestyle' with 8.5 million streams, a record that remains unbeaten to this day.
Furthermore, in June 2021, it achieved the highest number of streams in SoundCloud history with 275.1 million streams in the shortest period, solidifying its place as the top-streamed song while showcasing the 'Jimin Power' in the global music market.
With 'Promise', Jimin has officially certified two Guinness World Records, pulling forward the previous record of 403 days to 393 days, thus achieving the fastest 1 billion streams on Spotify as a K-pop solo artist, and proving his worth as a solo artist with a total of three Guinness World Records.
Meanwhile, prior to this, global media outlet 'Viral Takes' highlighted the records set by Jimin that should be registered in Guinness, including being the first Korean solo artist to top the Billboard 'Hot 100' with 'Like Crazy', topping Spotify's Global Top Songs chart, and holding the most number-one spots in over 100 countries on iTunes.
