'This Is Possible?': BTS Jungkook, Han So-hee, No-Guarantee Appearance by Yang Jo-wei - A K-pop Crossover Like Never Before
A combination that naturally makes you exclaim, "This is possible?" has been brought to life, surprising K-pop fans and global listeners with the quality of a music video more dramatic than a drama.
The first was the debut solo single 'Seven (feat.Latto)' by BTS member Jungkook. 'Seven' is a song that combines addictive melody with acoustic guitar and the rhythm of the 'UK garage' genre, a type of electronic music developed in the UK in the early 1990s.
'Seven' is a passionate serenade carrying lyrics expressing the desire to spend all seven days of the week with a loved one. Jungkook's melodious vocals elevate the charm and sophistication of the song. American rapper Latto added vivacity and energetic flair to the track through her feature.
The 'Seven' music video, shot on location in the United States, captivated with its cinematic storyline and unique camera movement. Directed by Bradley Bell and Pablo Jones-Soler, who have worked with various artists such as Harry Styles and Cardi B, the music video was completed with appearances from actress Han So-hee and featured artist Latto.
The storyline, unfolding like a movie, showcases constant efforts to prove one's love even during week-long disputes with a lover. Fans were surprised by the meeting of global sensation BTS's Jungkook and actress Han So-hee, who has been making her mark beyond South Korea. The music video, featuring their breath as lovers, was broadcast on MTV Live, MTVU, MTV Biggest Pop, and was also revealed on the Paramount outdoor billboard located in New York's Times Square. The YouTube views for the music video have surpassed 81.84 million.
Following the music video featuring the meeting of Jungkook and Han So-hee, NewJeans's music video shocked global K-pop fans. Hong Kong's top actor Yang Jo-wei appeared in the music video of 'Cool With You', one of the triple title tracks of NuGenes's mini-album 'Get Up'.
Earlier, online communities were buzzing with sightings of BTS V and actress Jung Ho-yeon shooting a music video for NuGenes, sparking anticipation. The surprise was amplified when it was confirmed that it was not V, but Yang Jo-wei making an appearance.
In the 'Cool With You' music video Side A, Jung Ho-yeon is seen following a man (Michael Vera), watched by NuGenes members. In Side B, Jung Ho-yeon appears to be enjoying a romantic time with Michael Vera, while Yang Jo-wei seems to interfere, drawing attention.
Yang Jo-wei's appearance lasts about 10 seconds, where he showcases his presence solely with his expressions and gaze. Notably, it is reported that Yang Jo-wei made a no-guarantee appearance. While Yang Jo-wei is known to have been paid $7.7 million for his role in the 2021 movie 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings', he appeared in NewJeanss music video without any guarantee.
The encounters of Jungkook and Han So-hee, NewJeans and 'no-guarantee' Yang Jo-wei, along with Jung Ho-yeon and Michael Vera, reiterate the sensational status of K-pop once again.
