The new music video for "Lilith," a joint venture by South Korean sensation Suga from BTS and American singer Halsey, has stirred controversy among fans. The collaboration, which is the second time the artists have teamed up since their 2018 hit "Boy With Luv," has faced criticism for its alleged "demonic" iconography.

Their latest single, "Lilith," is a reimagining of Halsey's 2021 track and has been chosen as the theme song for the upcoming release of the video game "Diablo IV." Unveiled earlier this week, the visually dark and gothic video shows Halsey battling an ominous entity in a spooky chapel before transforming into the game's villain, Lilith. Suga's performance in a blood-hued mist adds to the eerie atmosphere.

The video, however, has sparked a heated debate among some fans due to its perceived satanic elements. As per screenshots shared by Twitter user @d2files, a fan on TikTok, identifying as Christian, voiced her discontent about the visual theme of the video, referring to it as her "worst fear."

In response to a user who praised the song, she suggested that the "Lilith" music video was "promoting Satanism," a notion contrary to her religious beliefs. She argued that the symbolism and lyrics of the video were ostensibly Satanic. Other users echoed her sentiments, with one stating that despite being open-minded about religion, this video was "something else."

Comments on Halsey's Instagram post, where she explained her desire to explore a "dark mythology" concept with Suga, were also filled with disapproval. Some users accused the stars of spreading a harmful message and "blatantly worshipping the devil," while others expressed disappointment, citing the video's visuals as a line that shouldn't be crossed.

However, the controversy has not overshadowed the appreciation from a sizable section of their fans. Many expressed their support and admiration for the song and its corresponding visuals. Positive comments ranged from praising the "dark vibes" and artistic nature of the video to expressing anticipation for playing "Diablo IV" due to the song's inclusion.

Some fans further pointed out that the video's theme aligns with the game's premise of battling demons, hence the perceived demonic symbols. A Twitter user, @Suga_Gummy, added that if vanquishing demons equates to Satanism, then the criticism loses its meaning.

In the midst of this debate, Suga continues his "D-Day" solo world tour, supporting his album with the same name. His next performance is scheduled at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand, over the weekend.
