aespa's 'Spicy' Sets the Charts Ablaze: New Song Challenge Heats Up Social Media
The fiery popularity of boy group aespa continues to blaze forward.
According to their agency SM Entertainment on the 17th, aespa's third mini-album 'MY WORLD,' which was released on the 8th, broke records with the initial sales of 1,698,784 copies (based on the Hanteo Chart) in the first week, not only setting the all-time record for girl group initial sales, but also topping major domestic and international album and music charts.
The title song 'Spicy' is a dance track that stands out with its powerful synth bass sound and dynamic beat. The point choreography, which mimics dipping into spicy sauce with a finger, along with the lively and energetic 'Cool' charm and the confident and glamorous 'Hot' allure, create a performance that is highly addictive and has been receiving a warm response.
Adding to this response, the '#SpicyChallenge,' which involves following the point choreography of 'Spicy,' has also become a hot topic. Stars such as BoA, NCT's Jungwoo, Kara's Huh Young-ji, BTOB's Seo Eun-kwang and Lee Chang-sub, Monsta X's Jooheon, (G)I-DLE's Miyeon, Rothy's Yoonjin, broadcaster Park Myung-soo, and Kim Ho-young have participated.
In other news, aespa is set to attend the red carpet event of the 76th Cannes International Film Festival as ambassadors for Chopard, an official partner of the Cannes Film Festival.
