Zico Officially Enlists In The Military Service, Fans Bid Their Temporary Goodbye
The 27-year-old South Korean rapper, Woo Ji-Ho, best known as Zico from Block B, has officially enlisted in the military duty on July 30 (Thursday).
In a previous report, Zico’s mandatory military enlistment was announced in July by his home management, KOZ Entertainment, saying the rapper will be officially on duty by July 30.
According to Hellokpop, the rapper was spotted entering Nonsan, Chungcheongnamdo Army Training Center. Zico wore the most comfortable clothes as possible such as a black bottom paired with a white shirt. Additionally, he also wore a pair of sneakers, a cap, and a face mask. He is set to attend basic military training for four full weeks then he will be deployed as a public service worker.
Zico is the fifth of Block B to render the mandatory military service following Jaehyo, Ukwon, B-Bomb, and Taeil, Koreaboo reported. The recent member to be discharged from the service is Jaehyo, and he was welcomed back to the band in December of last year.
For privacy reasons, KOZ Entertainment quietly enlisted Zico in the military service without holding any press conferences and events. The matter aims to protect Zico, the fans, press, and the public from getting too close to each other if they opt to hold a press conference.
At the moment, there is no exact date when Zico will complete his military service, but according to KOZ Entertainment, he will be on duty for the “next few years.”
The 1992 born rapper debuted in 2011 as the bandleader of the all-boy K-pop group Block B. He is renowned for being an “all-rounder talent” that led him to release his first-ever album as a crooner in 2014. Among the tracks that became a major hit in South Korea are ‘Bermuda Triangle,’ ‘Artist,’ ‘Any Song,’ and ‘I Am You, You Are Me.’
