'Brave Girls: A New Chapter?' - United as Four, Will They Thrive for Two More Years?

On the 27th, Warner Music Korea announced that they have signed exclusive contracts with all Brave Girls members. The company stated, "We've united with the members with the utmost priority on group activities. We plan to provide full support for their activities."
Brave Girls represents the identity of their former agency, Brave Entertainment, as proven by the word "Brave" in their name. As the new contract with Warner Music Korea carries the scent of their previous agency, the company has explained that they are discussing the team name from various angles.
With all members committed to group activities, Brave Girls is moving to a new nest. However, the success of their comeback is not guaranteed.
Although the reunion of Brave Girls is a welcome event, concerns follow. Some argue that their competitiveness falls short compared to other girl groups. Their music hasn't been recognized as particularly creative or of high musicality. Critics say they're stuck in the trends of the 2010s, such as retro and disco pop.
In 2019, Brave Girls gained attention with their "Rollin'" reversal success story. However, two years later, there has been no hit song following "Rollin'." "Chi Mat Ba Ram" had a strong initial performance, but the concept and quality were lacking. "Thank You" received poor results due to its predictable melody and uninteresting hook line. Some critics even say that they're closer to being outdated rather than retro.
Their overseas influence is also limited compared to other girl groups. Their last official overseas activity was a US tour in July last year, and they have not had any activities this year.
There are voices criticizing their former agency, Brave Entertainment. During the peak of their popularity, the company forced a hectic schedule, quickly exhausting the attention they had gained. As a result, Brave Girls' unique color failed to resonate with the public.
In order to gain recognition, Brave Girls need differentiated competitive power as a girl group. Whether it's through good music or distinctive performances, they need to capture the public's hearts once again. "Rollin'" has become both their success and a mountain they must overcome. The music industry is closely watching whether Brave Girls, now in a new nest, can write a growth story that transcends their own limits.
