BTS' winning streak continues as it just added three more recognitions in its record for this month alone. The South Korean boy group took home the 'Best Music Video,' Favorite Music Video Choreography, and 'Best Fan Army at the 2021 iHeartRadio Awards held on May 28.
In the awarding event that was aired live via the FOX channel, BTS was mentioned throughout the night as it was nominated in four categories. Out of the quadruple nominations, the group only failed to clinch the Best Duo/Group award that went to Dan + Shay.
The band won the Best Music Video award for its Dynamite hit single. BTS beat the music videos of The Weeknd, Dua Lipa, BLACKPINK, Lady Gaga, and Ariana Grande, Harry Styles, Justin Bieber, Cardi B, Future ft. Drake and Maluma.
The Kpop stars' choreographer, Son Sung Deuk, claimed the Favorite Music Video Choreography for the Dynamite track as well. He was the only Korean choreographer who made it on the nominees' list.
For the Best Fan Army, BTS' fandom, the ARMY, won over the fan clubs of Ariana Grande, BLACKPINK, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, NCT 127, Shawn Mendes, Louis Tomlinson, Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, and Agnez Mo. This is the fourth time that the fandom received recognition from the American radio network.
In consecutive years since 2018, the ARMYs remained unbeatable. iHeart Media also congratulated BTS via Twitter, and a message of thanks from the group was also attached.
In any case, all the awards that BTS won at the 2021 iHeartRadio Awards were under the socially voted category. Thus, the fans contributed big time to the band's victories.
The iHeartRadio Music Awards is held every year and gives recognition to musicians who did so well throughout the year on iHeart radio stations across the U.S. The winners are usually selected through cumulative performance data, and in some categories, the public votes for their favorite artists.
