BIGBANG Comeback 2021: G-Dragon Is Working On New Album, Music
BIGBANG is set to make a comeback soon. The ultimate confirmation recently took place when member G-Dragon teased about the group's return to the K-Pop scene.
AllKpop reported that the "King of K-Pop" told DAZED Korea in an interview for its 13th-anniversary issue. He said that he has been "working on" a new album for the iconic group.
However, these are the only details he slipped before the public. While the information remains scarce, fans and followers are now celebrating, knowing that the group's comeback is imminent.
It is not, also, surprising that the K-Pop group has not released any additional update regarding the matter. The same outlet noted that BIGBANG is "notorious for releasing remarkably little content" both in music updates and official releases.
It is likely, though, that the band will return this year. This came after their supposed comeback last year was cancelled due to the pandemic. Hypebeast previously reported that the iconic K-Pop group was set to perform at Coachella in 2020, supposedly serving as their official comeback as a group.
Months later, though, their label, YG Entertainment confirmed that G-Dragon is, indeed, "working on new music." Since then, avid fans and followers of BIGBANG have continued to wait for further updates regarding the new music releases. But, it was only earlier this month when the K-Pop idol publicly spoke about the upcoming project.
Hello K-Pop said that the magazine featured G-Dragon for its special edition issue. DAZED Korea explained that they chose the K-Pop idol because he is the "world's most iconic being, and arguably the most dazed person in the world."
The anniversary edition has eight spread covers, along with the 58 pages of paper. It houses some of the BIGBANG member's artwork, as well as his exclusive interview. Moreover, he parades Chanel's spring and summer collection of 2021 in the material, being that he is the brand's global ambassador.
BIGBANG's comeback will be their first-ever return to the music space as a complete group since 2016. They last dropped an album, Made, later that year, and met apparent success.
In 2017, the members continued their promotions and public performances while T.O.P. served for the country's military. The following year, the rest of the members announced and confirmed their respective enlistment dates.
Before leaving for their service, though, the K-Pop idols dropped a single, "Flower Road," as a goodbye to their fandom. Although it was a successful act, the group, specifically member Seungri, became the center of numerous scandals following the Burning Sun nightclub fallout.
In 2019, he announced his retirement from BIGBANG. During the same year, all the members were discharged from the military, and have since worked on their comeback. (Business Times)
