Former Stray Kids' Woojin Speaks Up About Alleged Sexual Harassment Case
In an exclusive interview with the South China Morning Post, former Stray Kids member Woojin expresses his side of the story about being linked to a sexual harassment case against him.
Woojin speaks up about his involvement in an alleged sexual harassment case on October 4. He denies all claims regarding the sexual harassment case during the interview, even before the rumors spread through the internet.
"I didn't take it seriously when the issue first came up because it is not true at all," said Woojin. He added that he knew that Twitter users often makeup stories but was surprised that his case was spreading way faster than any other rumors.
Woojin admits that he did not expect the backlash to his initial statement, explaining that he only wanted to explain the situation himself to provide updates to his fans.
Moreover, Woojin stated that he did not think about the wording of his first statement because he felt the claims to be "nonsense." The former Stray Kids member added that he could not address the allegations because there was no mention of the exact date, time, and place.
However, some netizens have been uneasy about Woojin's denial. They believe that the idol is dishonest and suspects that his new record label is a made-up company for himself.
Nevertheless, 10x Entertainment proved its legitimacy by releasing documentation that it is a registered company in South Korea and will be taking legal actions against the sexual harassment allegations.
The rumors about Woojin going to one of the many bars in South Korea broke out last month, where he allegedly hit a woman, who was also a customer, plus sexually harassed her.
Last month, an anonymous netizen named @ a1b3c4s9 released a long line of post on Twitter detailing what happened to a specific bar in the Itaewon District and how the alleged K-pop idol treated the netizen.
In the post via Twitter, the netizen stated that they went to a bar to have fun, while someone approached them and harassed them both.
The victim stated that the perpetrator approached the victim to ask for a drink and chat. However, the netizen refused the perpetrator's offer and got pissed by the rejection.
The netizen stated that they already told him that they didn't want to chat with him or go out, but he persisted and began to touch their bodies without permission.
In the later tweet, the netizen explained that the perpetrator of the sexual harassment was a K-pop idol who had left the group and did not belong to any agency.
Finally, the netizen revealed the perpetrator's identity who had a name starting with "Woo" and worked for the Big 3 agencies in the country - SM Entertainment, JYP Entertainment, and YG Entertainment.
