Horror Series 'Whispering Corridors 6' To Open 24th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival
Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BiFan) announced the program for its 24th edition!
It was reported that a total of 174 movies from 42 different countries were invited to the yearly film festival honoring different genres from horror, thriller, mystery, fantasy, including sci-fi flicks. BIFAN revealed the overall program for the upcoming festival's 24th edition on June 18.
Seventy-two of these films (22 features, 50 shorts) will be making their world premiere at the BIFAN 2020.
The organizers of the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival said that its 24th edition would be starting from July 9 to July 16 in digital places and brick-and-mortar theaters in Bucheon, 50 kilometers west of Seoul.
The sixth installment of the horror series 'Whispering Corridors: The Humming' will be kicking-off the prestigious event.
The opening film, Whispering Corridors 6: The Humming (directed by LEE Myung), carries on the lineage of the Whispering Corridors series, which broke new ground in the world of Korean high school horror films.
The film tells the story of a character named Eun-hee, who is reminded of her shocking past after being appointed as the vice-principal of her high school alma mater.
Eun-hee is played by veteran actor Kim Seo-Hyung, who brings her authenticity and extraordinary presence to the screen. Newcomers Kim Hyeon-soo and Choi Ri, who star as high-school students in the film, also deliver standout performances, Bifan News reported.
The selected films will be screened in eight theaters in Bucheon under strict quarantine guidelines. BIFAN said they had chosen a dual-track strategy to adapt to the rapidly changing cinematic scene due to the COVID-19 pandemic that limits gatherings of a large scale.
"It is a new challenge for BIFAN running an online screening service," said Shin Chul, the festival director. "We hope this can set a stepping stone for the festival and over-the-top (OTT) platforms amid change," Yonhap News reported.
